2020 Football Procedures

SFSA had a meeting with the Baldwin County Youth Football Association (BCYFA), which is the group of cities/organizations we play youth football with.  The BCYFA discussed the procedures that will be in place for the 2020 youth football season. Generally speaking we will be following the AHSAA guidelines for football. Some specific areas that we wanted to make you aware of are as follows:

  • Every team participating in BCYFA will be required to take and record the temperatures of each player and coach before each practice and game. There is also a screening questionnaire that will have to be completed by each player and coach. This questionnaire is the same as AHSAA is using.
  • In the event that a player or coach has a temperature above 100.4 degrees or other symptoms of COVID-19, such individual will not be allowed to practice/play until they are cleared. This clearance procedure will be the same as recommended by state officials and similar to the requirements circulated by the BCBE.
  • Coaches will be wearing face coverings at practices and games unless the face covering requirements are lifted by the state.
  • Players are allowed to wear face coverings if they choose.
  • Each player must bring their own water/beverage. Team water cannot be provided from a shared container.
  • We will attempt to maintain social distance as much as possible; however, football is a contact sport so as you can imagine this will not be possible for the majority of the time.
  • The sidelines for games will look different. We will attempt to keep the sidelines socially distanced and have the individual players’ water/beverage located in their designated area on the sidelines.

As we have all experienced, COVID-19 has created a fluid situation regarding rules and regulations. As rules and regulations are adjusted by the state, county or locally, we will adjust also. Whether that be implementing stricter policies or rolling back some of the current policies.

We look forward to a successful 2020 youth football season. If you have any questions please let us know.
